All That She Began

Tiny little fingers

Linger in my hand

I look down to see

All that she began

I see her reflection

In my daughter’s eyes

Never could I imagine

The complete and utter surprise

I twirl her in a pirouette

She laughs and smiles at me

And as I gaze on her reflection

It’s simply you I see

Yours was the hand that twirled me

Rocked me when I needed sleep

And gave me wings and showed me things

That are in my heart so deep

You have shared your story

Through me and this child of mine

And I look at a photograph

And suddenly realize

I am part of you

And in so many ways so is she….

And I will always marvel

At all that came to be…

From All that She Began
